JoinHortLab provides research in the field of Plant Physiology and Nutrition

JoinHortLab aims in promoting innovations, enabling individual producers as well as cooperatives/groups of producers to have a more profitable crop.
In this context, JoinHortLab carries out
  • Analyzes of mineral nutrition at plant tissues.
  • Consulting in crops mineral nutrition
  • Diagnostics of fruit postharvest physiological disorders
  • Diagnostics of fruit nutritional problems and correlation of mineral nutrition of fruit and vegetables with the quality and nutritional value of their fruits.
  • Study of biostimulants composition and application in horticultural species with the aim of dealing with abiotic stresses and improving their quality.
  • Evaluation of varieties of horticultural species.
  • Evaluation and application of chemical or organic products that improve the productivity and quality of the Horticultural plants.
  • Evaluation and application of new nutritional cultivation techniques that control fruit postharvest storage and quality.
  • Implementation of research projects related to the study of:
    • the mechanisms of growth, production and abiotic stress responses of horticultural species of agronomic interest,
    • fruit biology and plant physiology and nutrition
    • practices for improving plant productivity and quality and fruit postharvest storability
    • nutritional diagnostics of horticultural species.

Analyzes / Tests

Analyzes of leaves, fruits and other plant tissues
  • Determination of inorganic nutrients: N, P, K, Ca, Mg, Fe, Zn, Mn, Cu, B
  • Determination of heavy metals: Pb, Ni, Cr, Co, Cd
  • Determination of other inorganic elements: Na, Cl
  • Determination of biostimulants: Si (silicon), auxin
  • Fertilization consultation
  • Diagnosis of normal wrist problems
Analysis of fruit / fruit quality indicators
  • colour
  • size
  • breathing rate
  • ethylene production
  • coherence
  • dry matter
  • content of soluble solid components-sugars
  • acidity
  • starch content

Genetic identification of plants

  • Molecular-genetic identification of populations and varieties of plant organisms with new generation genetic analyzers.
  • Control of varietal identity of propagating material (seeds, seedlings, fruits, etc.)
  • Identification of adulteration - adulteration by other plant species in products with increased added value using the DNA barcoding technique.
  • Molecular characterization of local traditional varieties with molecular markers.

Conducting experiments

  • Application and evaluation of formulations that improve the productivity and quality of Horticultural plants.
  • Determination of absorption of inorganic elements after foliar spraying
